Biography

Patricia Carrigan in 2005 and again in 2007 returned from a Residency Fellowship at The Ballinglen Arts Foundation in Ballycastle, County Mayo, Ireland. Her original intention was to create a body of work based upon storytelling traditions. Instead she felt the land itself spoke to her, a connection of spirit. "The landscape is filled with places where memory is present" and recognizing the inherent qualities of sacred places, Carrigan began to produce work in which abstraction follows a narrative. Carrigan's work blends the color and shapes of her lasting impressions, mystery, stone circles, ancient ruins, and the powers of sacred place.
